Shower Drain Cover: Matte Black or a Tile Inlay?

Choose the flat cover for a visible metal line, or a tile inlay to reduce the contrast with the shower floor. The finish choice comes after confirming that the drain suits the plumbing and waterproofing assembly.

The Khan Supply CO Linear Shower Drain includes a reversible cover with a matte-black flat side and a tile-in side. The listed drain measures 24 inches by 2.75 inches with a 2-inch centre outlet.

Plan a tile inlay before discarding the offcuts

Save matching material and have the tile installer check the tray dimensions, depth and suitable attachment method. Do not assume any tile thickness fits. Align the tile pattern deliberately and keep the drainage slots clear.

The cover still needs to lift out for access to the hair catcher. Do not grout it permanently into the surrounding floor. After an inlay has been bonded, changing the appearance may involve preparing or replacing that inlay; it is not necessarily a simple flip during routine cleaning.

Think about water marks and maintenance

Compare finishes in the bathroom's actual lighting. Dark surfaces can show pale mineral deposits, and a tile-in surface still has visible gaps and edges. Neither choice removes the need to clean the cover and hair catcher.

Use care products compatible with the drain finish and the selected tile. Preserve the lifting key and leave enough access to remove the cover.

The cover does not determine whether the shower drains correctly
