Flush mount floor vents sit level with your flooring instead of standing proud of it — no raised edges to stub a toe on, catch a vacuum, or interrupt a clean floor line. Khan Supply CO builds every flush floor register from heavy-gauge metal, designed in Canada, in two install styles: drop-in for retrofits and undermount for new floors.

Nothing here is plastic. Plastic registers warp near a supply duct, crack under a chair leg and rattle when the furnace kicks on. Metal does none of that.

Drop-in flush floor registers — for floors already down

Our best-selling Drop-In Floor Vent clicks straight into your existing duct opening. No screws, no tools, no lifting a single board. A raised interior plate moves air up and out while the frame stays low against the floor, so you get the flush look on a floor you are not planning to touch.

The Upgraded 2-in-1 Drop-In Vent adds a removable matte-black insert — or drop in an offcut of your own flooring for a register that all but disappears.

Both come in 3x10, 4x10 and 4x12, in matte black or white, singly or in 5-packs.

Undermount flush floor vents — for new floors and full renos

The Signature Undermount Flush Floor Vent mounts beneath the floor surface, so the grille finishes dead level with hardwood, tile or vinyl plank. It is the cleanest built-in look available, it takes foot traffic, and it has an adjustable damper so you can balance airflow room by room.

Undermount runs the widest size range we make — 2x12, 3x10, 4x10, 4x12, 4x14, 6x10, 6x12 and 6x14 — which covers most return and oversized supply openings as well as standard runs.

Flush mount floor vent sizes

Vent sizes are the duct opening, not the size of the old cover you are replacing. Measure the hole.

Size Duct opening must fall within Drop-in Undermount Typical use
2x12 2–2½" × 11¾–12¼" Yes Narrow toe-kick and stair runs
3x10 2¾–3¼" × 9¾–10¼" Yes Yes Bedrooms, hallways, older homes
4x10 3¾–4¼" × 9¾–10¼" Yes Yes The most common size in Canadian homes
4x12 3¾–4¼" × 11¾–12¼" Yes Yes Living rooms, larger supply runs
4x14 3¾–4¼" × 13¾–14¼" Yes Long supply runs
6x10 5¾–6¼" × 9¾–10¼" Yes High-volume supply
6x12 5¾–6¼" × 11¾–12¼" Yes High-volume supply, small returns
6x14 5¾–6¼" × 13¾–14¼" Yes Returns and main trunk drops

Your opening has to fall inside the range, not equal the nominal size. Cut-out dimensions in inches and millimetres are on the size guides.

Still deciding? Drop-in vs undermount flush floor vents walks through both on a real floor.

Do flush vents restrict airflow?

Short answer: ours don’t. The drop-in design lifts the grille face off the duct throat so air leaves sideways as well as straight up, which is where the “up to 60% more airflow” figure comes from. We ran the real-world airflow test if you want the numbers rather than the claim.

Frequently asked questions

Will a flush mount floor vent sit completely level with my floor?
An undermount will — it installs beneath the flooring, so the grille finishes flush with the surface. A drop-in sits low and even but keeps a thin visible frame, because it has to rest on the floor rather than under it.

Can I install a flush floor register without lifting my flooring?
Yes — that is exactly what the drop-in is for. It clicks into the duct opening you already have, with no screws and no tools.

What size flush floor vent do I need?
Measure the duct opening, not the old cover. A 4" × 10" hole takes a 4x10 vent. See the size table above.

Are metal floor vents better than plastic?
For anything you walk on, yes. Plastic warps near a hot supply duct, cracks under point loads and rattles. Heavy-gauge metal holds its shape and its finish.

Do these work with vinyl plank, tile and hardwood?
All three. Undermount is the cleanest finish under LVP and tile — see floor vents for vinyl plank flooring and floor vents for tile floors.

Can I paint them or match my floor?
The Upgraded 2-in-1 takes a flooring inlay, so you can match the floor exactly. See the insert guide.
